CAT ADOPTION AGREEMENT FORM:
Owning a pet is a serious responsibility and a commitment. I agree to meet the basic needs of the cat named below by following these guidelines. If, for whatever reason, I cannot keep the pet, I will contact Voiceless Kitty Rescue for instructions on how to return the cat to them. Under no circumstances is the cat to go to any other person, shelter, rescue, pound, animal control, etc.

I understand that if, for whatever reason, I cannot keep this companion, I will contact Voiceless Kitty Rescue for instructions to return the cat to them. Under no circumstances is the cat to go to any other person, shelter, rescue, pound, animal control, etc. I agree that I am responsible for relinquishing the cat to VKR, and I understand that the adoption fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. A portion will be refunded to me if the animal must be returned within a reasonable time frame, which is no more than six months of the adoption date.
(We have emotional investments in all of our cats here at the rescue, as we have shown them personal love and attention to get them ready for their forever home. This is why we ALWAYS require the cats to come back to us, regardless of the circumstances for their return.)I have read the above and agree that I will only return the cat to VKR should I not be able to keep my companion. (This will be asked once more below)
I understand that the environment within most shelters include conditions that often activate stress in animals. If the animal has behavior problems that I am not sure how to manage, I will contact VKR for information and resources or seek professional assistance.
I understand that although the cats available for adoption have had their temperaments assessed by VKR, this is not a guarantee the animal will respond in the same manner in a new home, with new owners, or around other family pets. It may take several days or even weeks for a cat to adapt to a new home & family. I agree to take time to work with my new companion. I also understand that sometime it may take certain cats a little while longer to adapt than others. I agree to give time and patience to my new pet.
I am aware of the financial cost of caring for this animal and I am capable of providing for such care. I am also aware of the daily time commitment needed for proper care of this animal and am capable of providing such care.
I agree to provide this animal with proper food, water, shelter, veterinary care, companionship, humane treatment and supervision.
I understand that once I adopt this animal I become fully responsible and will provide annual and continued veterinary care, to include annual vaccinations. Once they leave VKR, I am solely responsible for their medical cost and treatments.
I understand that adopting a cat is a 15 – 20+ year commitment and I agree to provide proper veterinary care, love, attention, patience, and my time throughout my pet’s entire life.
I understand that letting a cat roam around outdoors can cause harm to the animal. My cat may get injured, pick up a disease, cat napped, or even killed. I agree to keep my cat indoors at all times or have a safe and appropriate outdoor enclosure for him/her for outdoor use that is supervised.
I will make sure to share VKR's wishes to return my cat back to them with my family, friends, and anyone else in my circle. It's important to me that they understand how to care for my pet in case any unforeseen circumstances arise that might prevent me from doing so. This includes considerations for medical, financial, physical, emotional challenges, or even in the event of my passing. I want to ensure my pet is taken care of and loved, no matter what happens.
